How To Fail in Network Marketing

If you think this is a negative way to start a Success Oriented Web Site, then you're probably right! You see, that's what is being taught by most network marketing companies. How to fail!

It's The PLAN and NOT The PRODUCTS!

I have been involved with Network Marketing since 1980. Here are some of the ways you will fail with MLM.

Here's Failure Plan Number One:

  • You are approached by a family member, friend or co-worker
  • They tell you they have a great PLAN to make a Ton of Money
  • You ask, "What's the Company?"
  • They will NEVER tell you that it's a nutrition company, because most people do NOT want to sell "potions and pills"
  • You are invited to attend a meeting, where all the wonderful details will be revealed

The Recruiter spends about 55 minutes explaining "THE PLAN". Everyone is excited about the plan, so next comes the "REVEAL". It's a Nutrition Company! No one cares now because they are all excited about "THE PLAN".

Next, you are loaded up with a "Starter Kit", which usually amounts to a couple hundred dollars. Meanwhile, the person who invited you to the meeting is standing back, letting the "Recruiter" sign you up for even MORE stuff, like books, tapes etc.

Is Any of This Sounding Familiar?

That's what's given MLM the bad reputation, lately. And, it's well justified. False pretenses, product loading, and SELLING!

Bottom Line Here Is

If someone is NOT proud enough of their Company's products to be "UP FRONT" with that information FIRST and FOREMOST, then you can be sure the company does NOT have anything worthwhile to distribute.

It's ALL About the Products and Customer Service, NOT "THE PLAN"

Now you're hooked on "THE PLAN". Here is Failure Plan Number Two.

The Worst Way To Get Started

The Worst Way to get a new distributor started is to tell him to make a list of his friends and family. This is "affectionately" called your "Warm List".

Friends and family will try to tell your new distributor that he can't make it with this business.

That is the most DISCOURAGING way to get started

  • It is probably the greatest cause of dropouts
  • Making a list of friends and family is making a list of people who are not going to build your business
  • They are NOT business builders. They don't even WANT a home based business
  • If you try to build a business with these people, it's a plan for Failure

Not only is "making a list" of your Warm Prospects a plan for Failure, but it also sends the wrong message.

They think Network Marketing requires you to hound your friends and family. (Guess where they got that idea?)

The problem is: They don't WANT to hound their friends and family

Their perception is that Network Marketing is where you must pursue your relatives until you become a pest.

No wonder they don't want to join!

  • Friends and family don't want a home based business.
  • They don't want you to have one either.
  • Why not try to recruit business-builders instead of non-business-builders

  • That's much easier!
  • They won't laugh at you
  • They don't discourage you.

How You Can Profit from The Network Marketing Wars

In Networking publications, many ads read like this:

  • Our product is better than your product
  • Or our pills are better than your pills
  • Our pay plan is better than yours because you only pay so much on level two, and we pay much more
  • Our pay plan is better than yours, so our company is better than yours

What kind of message is given here?

The perception is that we are in a war. We have created a war and YOU are cordially invited to come join the war. Come be an army recruiter. Come join the War. We want you to recruit others to join the war.

Question: Do you want to be in a war?

Just ask people to honestly tell how they are doing in Network Marketing. They will tell you it’s really tough. Recruiting is very difficult. Of course it’s tough, if you are in a war! And no wonder! Who wants to be in a war?

People don’t want to fight. They don’t want to be in a battle.

But when you say, “my product is better than yours”, you have declared war.

You’re in a war when you say this other company only pays so much on the 2nd level, but we pay this much. You’re in a war – trying to recruit others into the war.

But the people that you want to recruit – they don’t want to be in a war. No wonder it’s so tough building a downline! They are building a downline of fighting soldiers. Come join the product-War. Come join our war.

But in the midst of this, several companies have rocketed to spectacular growth, producing unbelievable growth.

What is their secret?

  • What makes a company grow like wildfire, when most companies are struggling and eventually go under?
  • What is it that creates a sponsoring explosion in the midst of other companies that are really struggling to stay afloat?
